If you are dragging yourself through each day, you’re not alone. Fatigue is one of the most common problems that people discuss with their doctors and pharmacists. In her latest blog, holistic pharmacist Sherry Torkos reviews some possible physical energy-draining culprits including food intolerances, iron deficiency and dehydration. She points out that a lack of energy may also be due to a nutrient deficiency or hormonal imbalance.
Torkos suggests that you start by asking your doctor to run a blood test. She adds that the solution may be as simple as fighting back with energy-boosting superfoods and supplements. She cites examples of energizing foods including green tea, healthy fats and slow-release carbohydrates.
You might also want to begin taking supplemental support to ensure you get consistent amounts of important nutrients every day. Torkos says that these might include a multi-vitamin, SunActive Iron if you are anemic or have low iron levels, D-ribose for cellular energy, and Suntheanine for reducing the stress that may be wearing you down physically and emotionally.
We also love her last recommendation, which is to keep an activity diary. Once you identify tasks or activities that may be taking too much time out of your days, you may be able to carve out more “me” time for relaxing, fun activities may also help to replenish your energy level.
