If you’ve ever experienced Monday-morning muscle soreness after over-doing it on the weekends, here’s some great advice from Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Johnny Gillespie. A 42-year-old athlete and Empowered Yoga instructor, Gillespie knows a thing or two about aching muscles.
In his current blog, Gillespie describes the importance of distinguishing between sore muscles and sore joints. Then he reveals his favorite techniques for easing sore, stress muscles and discusses why he’s not a big fan of using ice or over-the-counter pain relievers.
And for those times when he finds it difficult to relax his mind – even as he’s lying on a massage therapist’s table, he turns to L-theanine. “L-theanine is an amino acid that causes alpha wave production, the same alpha waves you get when you meditate. Because products containing a proprietary form of L-theanine, called Suntheanine, promote the production of the brain’s alpha waves without the side effects of caffeine, it’s like getting massage therapy for your brain,” he says.
Is this product safe to take with with Lyrica (pregabalin). As this medication also works in a similar way would it be dangerous to take the two together?
